Currently Viewing: The Roots

A rare weekday recording of the show, plus a super late Whitney Houston RIP set.

Another Halloween passes us by, another Halloween filled with bangers!

Said in Black Thoughts voice… “it’s the pen-ul-ti-mate…” episode of our Best of the 90′s set. At this point, I don’t think there are any surprises with our selections. Just certified classic bangers from the decade that was.

Here is the first of five episodes dedicated to the best of the 90′s. We start with #66 and get down to #53.

With the year 2010 behind us, we take a look at the best of what was. Hit the jump if you want to spoil the fun.

We had some difficulties in the beginning, but Jerome and J. Pitts managed to pull out an episode without DJ Nice Rec! A first!

Nice Rec and Jerome got a little too drunk for this one! Nevertheless, we still rock to some new hip hop jams!

It's been a long time since we had a regular episode - this episode featured a long time friend yelling at us from outside during one of the mics. Oh yeah, it's also got the hot jams.

You know what it is, a full hour plus of the Roots! We span their whole career throughout this episode, you don't want to miss out!

Slim Wilkins shares a story about a recent hell date of his. We play some joints including a Camu Tao in memoriam set. May he rest in peace…

The first major set of this episode has a heavy jazz influence. Also, I caught a lot of flack for the Lupe Fiasco track at the end. Whatever. It was the gits and shiggles song, and it's my show.

Fuck y'all.

We have an "extra schlong" episode of the J. Pitts Show to end the year. I do a review of every episode we've done, like a belated Table of Contents, of sorts. Our friend The Maiden also joins us in the studio.

Please forgive us, this episode was recorded almost a month ago, but only posted now because Nice Rec and I are in a period of transition right now. Nice Rec is moving into a new apartment and we have both just started new jobs. Nevertheless, here is a dope episode featuring some jams from some new albums. Be on the lookout as the next episode is the DJ Premier Man of the Hour. Don't worry, things will be back to normal real soon.

Episode 8 took a long fucking time to come out. Nevertheless, it's here. No gimmicks or specialty show here, just Nice Rec and I playing the joints that you have come to love (or hate). We also discuss our recent trip to Philly where we caught the Chrome Children Tour. Shout outs to DJ Perk for the ride home.
